Note:

NOTE: Prompt 'Older Posts' on the right side at the end of this page will in fact take you to the most recent posts, while 'Newer Posts' will take you to the older posts. I am looking for a fix to the source code to resolve this issue.

Hey, while I have your attention: Have a look at my other new site where I invite you, my readers, to share all your special stories. Have a look here: URMEMOIR.wordpress.COM

Sept 19-21 2012

We left Charleston with the intention of getting to Newport. We pass a few small towns along the way but they did not inspire us to stop. We stopped in Florence for a bite to eat and would probably have moved on if Brenda had not spotted a turn off for the 'Old Town'. This is another world altogether. It's a small piece of paradise. Lots of shops with the kind of 'stuff' Brenda likes to rummage through. We decided we could easily spend two days here to allow Brenda go to antique shops, Thrift shops, Baubles and Beads etc.

We went out for a quick drink (at the Beachcomber ) before heading back to our hotel which, by the way, had a great view over the local river and across from the Oregon Dunes.   It was here I observed Kore and Darren playing pool. They were kind enough to offer me a game. Kore gave me every chance to pot a few balls, that is, until his girlfriend Holly showed up. Then he finished me off. The guys were great and told us the best places to eat, hike and observe beautiful scenery. Kobi is a Sushi Chef at Aloha Sushi in Florence. I had a small sample of his food, fabulous : )

We went to see the Oregon Dunes before heading north again. The dunes are massive. The sun tries to come out, but fails. We stay for a couple of hours and catch up on some reading.

I hope some of my images give you some appreciation of how quaint this place really is.
